Born Dec. 16, 1917, in Memphis, Tenn., son of the late Benjamin L. and Mazie Bolick Tutt, he was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran and received a Victory Ribbon, American Theatre Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service and was the assistant postmaster in the Caruthersville, Mo. Post Office, and was a member of the American legion and the Eastwood Memorial United Methodist Church in Caruthersville.
On July 10, 1940, in Memphis, he married Alta Mae Moore, who preceded him in death on Oct. 2, 1999.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Lee Linhoss and husband, Andy, of Tucson; one son, John Edward Tutt and wife, Karen, of Farmington, Mo.; one sister, Mary Jewell Watson, of Memphis; five grandchildren, Gretchen Tutt, of St. Louis, Mo., Lori Anne Tutt, of Columbia, Mo., Tracey Ray, of Apple Valley, Calif., Greg Linhoss, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Brad Linhoss, of Bartlett, Tenn., and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 22, at the Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville with the Rev. Dwight Chapman officiating.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
