Cleatus Stanfill

Cleatus S. Stanfill, 68, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005, at the Methodist Central Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Born Aug. 27, 1936, in Warm Springs, Ark., son of the late Daley and Ina Bailey Stanfill, he attended school in Maynard, Ark., and received a radio journalism degree from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Ark. He was a member of the Sacred heart Church in Caruthersville and was active in the Knights of Columbus.

On June 11, in Portageville, Mo., he married JoAnn Beis, who survives.

Survivors also include four children, Preston Stanfill, of Nashville, Tenn., and Debbie Swindle and husband, Steve, Belinda Moss and husband, Greg and Krystal Pollard and husband, Jerry Lynn, all of Caruthersville; one sister, Yvonne Lindsey, of Collinsville, Ill., and five grandchildren, Autumn and Summer Swindle, Cody and Caleb Moss and Jerry Lynn Pollard, all of Caruthersville.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, at the Sacred heart Church with Father Scott Sonenburg officiating.

Burial was in the Maple Cemetery at Caruthersville.

Pallbearers were members of the Knights of Columbus.

H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
