Maybell Francis Eakins Smith, 70, of Cardwell, Mo., died Monday, Sept. 12, 2005, at her residence.

Born April 16, 1935, in Caruth, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Rachel Wood Eakins.

On Sept. 1, 1956, she married Douglas P. Smith Sr., who preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 1982. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Sue Nolen.

Survivors include one son, Douglas P. Smith Jr., of Pittsburg, Penn.; two daughters, Bonnie Kay Mitchell, of White Oak, Mo., and Connie Roxanne Harper, of Cardwell; one brother, Edwin "Buddy" Eakins, of Hillsboro, Mo.; one sister, Joann Brown, of Kennett; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 14, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.

Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Ricky Dye, Douglass Smith, Charles Brown, Keith Smith, Billy Nolen and David Mitchell.
