Dora Brooks

Evangelist Dora Grace Brooks, 81, of Gobler, Mo., died Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.

Born May 5, 1924, in Pelahatchie, Miss., daughter of the late Peter Lee and Desiree Walton, she was an evangelist and a member of All Saints' Temple Church of God in Christ International.

On June 24, 1939, she married Rev. Eddie B. Joyner, who preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 1982. She later married Roy Brooks on Sept. 11, 1984, who preceded her in death in October, 1989. She was also preceded her in death by one son; five brothers, three sisters, four granddaughters and three grandsons;

Survivors include one daughter, Pearlie McHarland, of Gobler; one sister, Minnie Myers, of Jackson, Miss.; a host of grandchildren including a granddaughter, Gracie Sanders, of Gobler and a grandson, Bobby Joyner and a host of great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home in Caruthersville, Mo. with Elder Mikel Johnson officiating.

Burial was in the Morgan Ridge Cemetery at Caruthersville.

Grandsons served as pallbearers.
