Born March 26, 1923, in Campbell, son of the late Robert H. and Vira Edwards Borders, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in WWII. He was a farmer and a member of the Bethany General Baptist Church.
In 1942, in Campbell, he married Melba Jean Harris, who preceded him in death on July 27, 1954. He later married Martha Whitehead on Jan. 12, 1956 at Risco, Mo., who survives.
Survivors also include two sons, Joe Borders, of Campbell and Ron Borders, of Sikeston, Mo.; one daughter, Debbie Scroust, of Aurora; two step-sons, Perry and Dale Harmon, both of Camp bell; two step-daughters, Brenda Sue Gonzales and Diane Davidson, both of St. Charles, Mo.; three sisters, Maxine Brown, of Bernie, Mo., Elsie Wall, of Monroe, La., and Gladys Lemons, of Auburndale, Fla.; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one step-son, Dennis Harmon; one brother, Obie Borders; one sister, Ora East and one grandson, Kyle Borders.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. today, Tuesday, Aug. 30, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Campbell with the Rev. Bryan Johnson and Dawsey Lee Brown officiating.
Burial was in the Bethany Cemetery at Campbell.
