Born July 31, 1922, in Henderson, Tennessee, son of the late Curry Lee and Julia Bell Henry Emerson, he was a WW II veteran, having served in the American Theater and European African Middle Eastern Theatre Campaigns. He was awarded two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He was in the banking industry in Houston, Texas and was a member of the VFW.
Survivors include one sister, Lois Cooper, of Morrilton, Ark., and one brother, Burl Emerson, of Russellville, Ark.
He was preceded in death by one son, Jackie Ray Emerson; one daughter, Phyllis Carol Emerson; two brothers, C.L. and Sam Emerson and four sisters, Ruby Bullington, Tressie Faris, Bessie Baskin and Edna King.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Aug. 24, at the John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti, with Jerry Cooper officiating.
Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were Ron Baskin, Berl Bullington, Art Bullington, Danny Bullington, Darcy Baskin and Dennis Faris.
