Emma Laura Figgins, 94, died Wednesday, August 17, 2005, at Martin, Tenn.
Born Nov. 25, 1910, at Opposition, Ark., daughter of the late Casus Claud and Ethel Jane Bottoms Baird, she was a homemaker, shoe factory worker, school teacher and a member of the Church of Christ.
On Feb. 7, 1932, at Ravendon, Ark. she married Glen Herman Figgins who preceded her in death on Jan. 26, 1982. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Buddy Herman Figgins and two brothers.
Survivors include three sons, John Wesley Figgins and wife, Marie, of Paris, Texas; Jerry Mac Figgins and wife, Maribeth, of Searcy, Ark., and Bob G. Figgins and wife, Melba, of Martin, Tenn.; two brothers, Chester Charles Baird of Williford, Ark and Thomas Budd Baird of Rolla, Mo.; three sisters, Maxine McKnight of Norman, Okla., Geraldine Gately of Olympia, Wash and Sue Warren of Louisville, Ky.; eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 20, at Central Church of Christ in Caruthersville with Mr. Jimmy Colvett officiating.
Burial was in Pemiscot Memorial Gardens in Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Wesley J. Figgins, Russell Figgins, Robert Figgins, Michael Figgins and Michael Gooch.
Todd White served as honorary pallbearer.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home was in charge of services.
