Mary Eliza Crews, 87, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Wednesday, August 17, 2005, at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti, Mo.
Born Feb. 22, 1918 in Caruthersville, daughter of the late William Andrew and Virginia Reynolds Joplin, she was an employee of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and part owner of Joplin Floral Co. She was a member of the SEMO club, Helen Schult Garden Club and the First Presbyterian Church in Caruthersville.
Survivors include one brother, Robert Crews Joplin of Bartlesville, Okla.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, William Andrew Joplin Jr. and Sterling Price Joplin.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 am. Saturday, August 20, at First Presbyterian Church at Caruthersville with the Rev. Kirwin Stewart officiating.
Burial was in Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Jim Grantham, Bader Fike, David R. Anderson, Robert G. Spencer, Jacob Porter and Roger VanAusdall Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Dan Mucica, Kirby VanAusdall, Roger VanAusdall and John VanAusdall.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
