Born April 2, 1921, at Del-Ark, Ark., he was a son of the late Wallis Wilkins and Martha Ann Ayers Cook. A veteran of World War II, he was a farmer and member of the First Baptist Church at Hayti.
Survivors include his wife, Ann, of Hayti; one son, James "Jim" Cook and wife, Linda, of Hayti; one daughter, Theresa Long and husband, Rodney, of Southaven, Miss; one granddaughter, Kimberly Tomko of O'Fallon, Mo. and one grandson, Brandon Long of Southaven, Miss.
He was preceded in by one grandson, Kevin Lee Cook; two sisters, Luby Cook and Martha Sue Cook Warth; and one brother, Earl Cook.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Monday, August 15, at the John J. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with Dr. Mike Melton officiating.
Burial was in Woodlawn Cemtery in Hayti.
Pallbearers were B.A. Cross, W.T. Davidson, Jr., Leslie Knott, Bud Nettleton, Allen Taylor and Lee Wiggington.
Honorary pallbearers were Roy Cooper, Bob Inmon, Joseph Lacey, Perry Manley and John Sanders.
