J.W. "June Bug" Turnage, Jr., 82, of Hayti, Mo., died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005 at the Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti.
Born on August 17, 1922, in Hornbeak, Tenn., son of the late John Willis and Pauline Duke Turnage, he was a WW II Navy Veteran.
He was vice-president of Caruthersville Gin Company, a farmer and a member of the Hayti First Baptist Church.
On March 13, 1950, in Osceola, Ark., he married Jean Powell, who survives.
Survivors also include three sons, J.W. "Sonny" Turnage III and wife, Belinda, of Hayti, Rick Turnage and wife, Gina, of Brownsville, Tenn. and Duke Turnage and wife, Teresa, of Lenox, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Patrick Turnage of Hayti, Casey Turnage of Lenox, Tenn., Jordan and Peyton Turnage of Brownsville, Tenn.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 19, 2005 at the First Baptist Church in Hayti, with the Dr. Mike Melton and Bro. Don Campbell officiating.
Burial was held in the Maple Cemetery in Caruthersville, Mo.
Pallbearers were Terry Dill, Gary Hayes, Victor Sample, Bobby Khourie, Billy Brown and Ray Cook.
Honorary pallbearers were Eddie Brooks, Larry Cline, Oather Brown, Lee Dill, Paul Glass, Wayne Keller, James Klinkhardt, Robert O. Pierce, Les Sides, Mike Sides, John L. Yarbro, Jr., Isaiah West, Tim Roberts and Billy Beegle.
John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of arrangements.
