Gladys Lavern Wilhelm, 94, of Gideon, Mo., died Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2005, at Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston, Mo.
Born Oct. 2, 1910, in Gideon, daughter of the late L.R. Pope Sr., and Bessie Quinn Pope, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Gideon.
On July 1, 1933, in Gideon, she married Doyle D. Wilhelm, who preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 1997. She was also preceded in death by one son, Bobby Wilhelm; two brothers, L.R. Pope Jr., and Harlen Pope and three sisters, Blanche Kitchen, Thelma Reeves and Colene Bennett.
Survivors include one daughter, Connie Spears and husband, Bud, of Sikeston; one sister, Lucille Lewis, of St. Louis, Mo.; three grandchildren, Glen Alexander and Becky Wade, both of Sikeston and Lori Alexander, of Lewisville, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Heather Lawrence and Blake Wade, both of Sikeston and two great-great-grandchildren, Drace and Ahnna Grace Lawrence.
Visitation will begin at 5:30 p.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 17, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Gideon.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jonathan Cooney officiating.
Burial will follow at the Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton, Mo.
