Demetra Ross

Demetra Ann Ross, 81, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005, at the River Oaks Care Center in Steele, Mo.

Born Feb. 19, 1924, in Caruthersville, daughter of the late Dr. Harry Baker and Edna Anna Cunningham Baker, she attended school in Caruthersville. She was a member of P.E.O., Bridge Club, Blytheville Rose Society and the Eastwood Memorial Methodist Church.

She married Charles Guy "Bill" Ross Jr., who preceded her in death on June 2, 2000. She was also preceded in death by one son, Stephen Ross.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Guy Ross III, of Dyersburg, Tenn., and Baker Ross, of Caruthersville; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Caruthersville with the Rev. Dwight Chapman officiating.

Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville.

Pallbearers were Kevin Greenway, Speedy Powell, Justin Sullivan, Taylor Sullivan, Bobby Powell and Chris Storey.
