Roy Louis Ward Sr., 77, of Pocahontas, Ark., formerly of Kennett, died Monday, Aug. 8, 2005.

Born July 5, 1928, in Armorel, Ark., son of the late William Roy Ward and Mattie Mae Hardesty, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWII.

On Jan. 14, 1960, he married Betty Swims, who preceded him in death on March 1, 1991. He was also preceded in death by one son, Michael Shane Ward; one brother, Charles Leo Ward and one sister, Ethel Mae Arnold.

Survivors include three sons, Roy Louis Ward Jr., and Jerry Wayne Ward, both of Linton, Ind., and Gregory Wayne Ward, of Pocahontas; four brothers, William Augusta Ward, of Clarksville, Miss., Vollie Burle "Dean" Ward, of Blytheville, Ark., Daris Ward, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Johnny Calvin Ward, of Kennett; two sisters, Agnes Moore and Helen Mann, both of Greenville, Mo.; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Wednesday, Aug. 10, at the McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dale Rickman officiating.

Burial will follow at the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Kennett.

Pallbearers are Dewayne Smith, Leo Johnson, Chris Goldsmith, Jamie Johnson, Russell Johnson and Brandon Kulin.

Honorary pallbearer is James John Kulin.
