Mildred Vickers

Mildred Lucille Vickers, 80, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Friday, Aug. 5, 2005, at Saint Frances Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Born February 23, 1925, in Rosiclare, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Harm and Rosie Henson Belt, she was of the Baptist faith and worked for many years at the Brown Shoe Company.

She married Sam D. Vickers, Sr., who preceded her in death on August 27, 1968.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Louis Ervin and Jack Ervin; one daughter, Roseann Ervin; two sisters, Gertrude Belt and Dorothy Shields; one brother, Gordon Belt and one half-brother, Fred Privett.

Survivors include one son, Sam Vickers, Jr. and wife, Jo Ann, of Caruthersville, Mo.; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and two sisters, Alma Faye Bloom of Pasadena, Texas and Mary Anna Meales of Caruthersville, Mo.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2005 at the John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti, Mo. with Dr. Mike Melton officiating.

Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville, Mo.

Family members served as pallbearers.

John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of arrangements.
