Rev. James Perry Lewis, 68, of Kennett, died Monday, Aug. 1, 2005, at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark.
He was a graduate of Jonesboro High School and Arkansas State University, charter pastor of the Needham Baptist Church, served as pastor of several Baptist churches in Southeast Missouri, a retired school teacher of the Kennett School System and a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Horton Lewis of the home; one son, Mark Lewis, of Jonesboro; one daughter, Jill Lewis, of Kennett; one sister, Betty Ann Emerson, of Jonesboro; one brother, Fred Lewis, of Jonesboro and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Naomi Lewis and one brother, Robert Lewis.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today Thursday, Aug. 4, at the First Baptist Church in Kennett. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Jonesboro.
A private burial will be in Jonesboro.
