Born Jan. 5, 1921, at Newark, Ark., son of the late Hubert Douglas and Jessie Qualls Conner, he was a retired barber and farmer. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a former member of Kiwanis, American Legion at Malden and the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of First Baptist Church at Risco.
On Dec. 22, 1945, at Piggott, Ark., he married Avanelle Anders who preceded him in death March 26, 1978. On Jan. 5, 1979, at Sikeston, Mo., he married Tonie Geraldine Mays who survives.
Other survivors include one son, Lynn Conner of Sequin, Texas; one daughter, Cindy Shepard of Campbell; two brothers, Dale Conner of Wisconsin and Ray Conner of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; one grandson, Drew Joyce of Campbell.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Gene Conner.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today, Sunday, July 31, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden, Mo.
Funeral services are 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, at Bradshaw Chapel with the Rev. Gene Lancaster officiating.
Burial with military rites will be in Elder Cemetery at Campbell.
Pallbearers will be Archie Earnheart, Donnie New, Kenneth Smith, Harold Love, Jim Hardesty and Vernon Patterson.
