Velma Ree Trainor Jones, 64, of Hermondale, Mo., died Sunday, July 24, 2005, at her residence.
Born March 17, 1941, a daughter of the late Earl and Rosie Trainor, she was a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove C.M.E. Church where she was church clerk and secretary and a member and director of the choir. She retired in 1997 from the Senath-Hornersville School district after 21 years.
She attended elementary school at St. Paul in West Hermondale, Mo. and graduated from Washington High School at Caruthersville in 1959.
On Oct. 21, 1961, she married George "G-Boy" Jones who preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death in 1992 by her youngest daughter Wendelin.
Surviving are two daughters, Joyce Jones Herron and husband, Rick, and Muriel "Murdock" Swatson and husband, Doug, of Gosnell, Ark.; three sons, Elbert Jones and wife, Bridgett, of Tallahassee, Fla., Alfred Jones of Steele, Mo., and Dewayne Jones and wife, Eden, of Tampa, Fla.; two brothers, Earl Trainor Jr. and wife, Ruth, and Fletcher Trainer, all of Lansing, Mich.; one sister, Earnestine Wallace of Lansing, Mich.; four grandsons, Jamaal Jones and wife, Melita, of Phoenix, Ariz., Maurice Jones of Lansing, Mich., Christopher Jones Jr., of Las Vegas, Nev. and Rashaun Jones of Tampa, Fla.; two granddaughters, Pamela Sims of Gosnell, Ark., and Kristianna Jones of Tampa, Fla.; one great-granddaughter of Manijahnay Jones of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; one great-grandson, Jalin Jones of Phoenix, Ariz.; special daughters Catherine Hudson and Lisa Jones; special sons, Virgil Sims and Demario Jones; a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at St. Paul Missionary Baptist church at Blytheville, Ark., with the Rev. Horace Howard Jr. officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery at Holland, Mo.
