William Garrett Short, 13, of Kennett, died Saturday, July 16, 2005.

Born July 11, 1992, in Kennett, son of Jack William and Kimberly Jo Peterson Short, he was a seventh grade student at Kennett Middle School, an active member of the YUIC Youth Group at First United Methodist Church, where he had recently been confirmed as a member of Christ's church. He was a former Cub Scout with Pack 89 and he played on numerous sports teams and looked forward to being part of the KMS sports programs. His interests included football, baseball, hunting and skateboarding. He lived his life to the fullest and loved hanging with his friends.

Survivors include his parents, Kim and Jack Short, of Kennett; grandparents, Bob and Janie Peterson, of Kennett; great-grandmothers, Willine Swinger, of Williamsville and Thelma Peterson, of Kennett; aunts and uncles, Kathy and Brian Rogers, Odell Daniels, Nancy and Mike Ross and Mary and Don Davis, all of Kennett and Randy and Connie Swinger, of Williamsville; cousins, Drake and Abbi Daniels, Darin Davis, Tiffany Davis and Tommy Don Ross, all of Kennett, Tamra Martin and Lauren McComb, of Hornersville and Aaron and Jessica Swinger, of Williamsville.

Visitation was held at the First United Methodist Church Christian Life Center in Kennett on Monday, July 18.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, July 19, at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Lanning officiating.

Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Odell Daniels, Tim Crawford, Mike Baker, Chris Wake, John Patton and Willie Raspberry.

Honorary pallbearers were members of the City Light, Gas and Water Department.

Memorials may be made to the Garrett Short Athletic Scholarship which has been established at Senath State Bank.
