Mary Louise Hughes Taylor, 80, of Gideon, Mo., died Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center at Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Born July 15, 1924, at Lexington, Tenn., daughter of the late Walter Otto and Rebecca Ann Bartholemew Powers, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gideon.
On Dec. 21, 1939, she married William Hershel Hughes who preceded her in death Aug. 23, 1955. On Dec. 8, 1957, she married Hershel Alvin Taylor who preceded her in death June 6, 1992. She was also preceded in death by one son, Bob Hughes; twin daughters, Dessie and Lessie Hughes; four sisters, Elsie Richardson, Minnie Calvert, Donnie McCormick and Stella Steele; two brothers, Elmer Powers and Leo Powers; and two grandchildren, Cindy Tuggle and Jerry Von "Little Bo" Wingo Jr.
Survivors include eight daughters, Shirley Lance of Marshfield, Mo., Phyllis Hughes of Pass Christian, Miss. Peggy Timms of Memphis, Tenn., Sandi Pickard of Gulfport, Miss., Judy Anderson of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Jo Ann Tuggle of Portland, Ore., Mary Lou Moylan of Clarkton, Mo., and Debbie Scott, of Gideon; two sons, Wayne Hughes of Clarkton and Dale "Buddy" Taylor of Swartz Creek, Mich; one brother, Otto Powers of Campbell Mo.; one sister, Lois Powers of Gideon; 23 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Gene Lancaster officiating.
Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
