Goldie Lee Young, 88, of Kennett, formerly of Hornersville, Mo., died Saturday, July 2, 2005, at the Heritage Nursing Home in Kennett.

Born June 2, 1917, in Bard, Ark., daughter of the late Grover Frank and Susie Songer Smith, she was a member of the Hornersville Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 523.

On June 9, 1937, in Hollywood, Mo., she married J.D. Young, who preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1989. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Cissy Young; three brothers, Carl, D.C. and Donald Smith and one sister, Sylvia Samples.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Young, of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Allen Young, of Kennett; one daughter, Cathy Young, of Hornersville; one brother, Cecil Smith, of Mountain View, Ark.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, July 6, at the First Baptist Church in Hornersville with the Rev. Freddie Bowen officiating.

Burial was in the Horner Cemetery at Hornersville.

Pallbearers were Darrel Jones, Scott Young, Andrew Young, Mike Harris, Justin Harris and David Tucker.

Bradshaw-Emerson Funeral Home of Hornersville was in charge of arrangements.
