D.J. Hardin, 84, of Rockford, Ill., formerly of Kennett, died Sunday, June 26, 2005, at Willows on Main.

Born Feb. 6, 1921, in Adamsville, Tenn., son of the late Herman and Emma Lathella Finley Hardin, he was U.S. Army veteran, retired from National Lock and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose.

Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Sue Gaubatz and husband, Dennis, of Texas, Judy Mantta and husband, Bob, of Rockford and Peggy Meckler, of Beloit, Wis.; one son, David Hardin and wife, Kathy, of Rockford; special friend, Eleanore Becker, of Rockford; two brothers, Hayse, of Missouri and Bill, of Tennessee; one sister, Bobbye Ruth, of California; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, D. Ray and Herman Jr.

No services planned.

Honquest Family Funeral Home of Rockford was in charge of arrangements.
