James "Jim" Roth, 88, of Malden, Mo., died Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter, Mo.

Born Oct. 8, 1918, in Clayton, Mo., son of the late William H. Elizabeth Baron Roth, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWII, a landowner and farmer. He was employed as an associate professor of soils at Delta Research Center in Portageville, Mo., he taught WWII veterans agriculture at Malden and he was member of the First United Methodist Church in Malden.

On Feb. 16, 1942, in Columbia, Mo., he married Jennie Lind Smith, who preceded him in death on March 16, 2005.

Survivors include three sons, James Richard Roth and wife, Evie, of Belmont, Mass., Charles Barron Roth and wife, Roberta, of Battle Ground, Ind., and Victor Lind Roth and wife, Rhonda, of Malden; one brother, Robert Roth and wife, Jean, of Rock Island, Ill.; two sisters, Grace Miller and husband, Robert, of Jefferson City, Mo., and Eleanor Nugent, of Columbia; special friend, Margaret M. Roth, of Springfield, Ill., and seven grandchildren, Jennie Dickens, Bethany Lind, James L., Christopher B. Rebecca Clarissa and Charles Ryan Roth and Kara McConniel.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Friday, June 17, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stan Wood officiating.

Burial military rites will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden.
