The 24th Annual Kennett Jaycees Show-Me State Barbecue Cook-Off gets under way Tuesday, June 21st and runs through Saturday, June 25.

The week begins with a carnival which lasts through Saturday, with armbands every night except on Friday. There will be cash drawings nightly throughout the week and Friday night will be filled with live entertainment by "Heavy Blue Chevy," a band from Dyersburg, Tenn., set to take the stage after the annual Colgate Country Round-Up talent show that is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

The barbecue cook-off will start up on Friday with winners announced on Saturday evening at 5 p.m.

This year's cash prizes total more than $7,000 dollars, with the Grand Champion receiving $1,400 dollars and a first place prize winner will receive $650.

There will be a demolition derby on Saturday night. Anyone with questions regarding entry fees and rules on the cook-off may contact Mike Doblin at (573)-888-7655 or questions regarding the derby by calling Tom Wiley at (573)-344-0588.
