Ruth Laverne Medlin, 84, of Bragg City, Mo., died Friday, June 10, 2005, at Baptist Hospital East in Memphis, Tenn.

Born Nov. 29, 1920, in Armorel, Ark., daughter of the late Jasper Theodore and Eliza Elizabeth Day Vance, she was employed at Brown Shoe Company and of the Baptist faith.

On April 7, 1941, in Blytheville, Ark., she married Woodrow Wilson "Jack" Medlin, who preceded her in death on Oct. 30, 1973. She was also preceded in death by nine sisters; two brothers; one grandson, Richard Luye Jr., and one great-grandson, Danny Michael "Trey" Watkins III.

Survivors include two sons, Jackie Medlin, of Memphis and Gary Medlin, of Bakersfield, Calif.; one daughter, Judy Luye, of Bragg City; four grandchildren, Lisa Luye Watkins, Robin Luye Crossno and Butch and Randy Medlin and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, at the H.S. Smith Funeral Home in Caruthersville, Mo., with the Rev. Kenny Lee officiating.

Burial was in the Maple Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Kevin Barnes, Brian Luye, Joe Luye, Philip Luye, Eric Luye and Randy Luye.
