John Baumgardner, 88, of Jonesboro, Ark., formerly of Gideon, Mo., died Thursday, June 9, 2005, at Jonesboro.
Born Aug. 21, 1916, at Pine, Mo., he was a son of the late Abraham Morian and Nina Gordon Baumgardner.
On Dec. 3, 1938, at Neelyville, Mo. he married Velta Glodene Hemby who survives.
Other survivors are three daughters, Oma Sanders and husband, Robert, of Napels, Idaho, Donna Nettles and husband, Jim, of Gideon and Deloris Cornish of Jonesboro; one brother, Jacob Baumgardner of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Roberta Layton of Dexter and Leta White of Poplar Bluff; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by two sons in infancy, Robert Carroll Baumgardner and John William Baumgardner; four brothers, James, Charles, Arthur and Walter Baumgardner and four sisters, Hazel McKinley, Maude Brown, Bessie Webber and Helen Waterman.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at McDaniel Funeral Service Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. Doug Clinton officiating.
Burial was in Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Jimmie Nettles Jr., Mark Nettles, Mark Pepper, Mark Givens, Paul Keith and Cephais Hemby.
