Frances Christina Townsend Hill, 88, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at the Caruthersville Nursing Center.
Born April 25, 1917, in Pemiscot County, Mo., daughter of the late Flora Ellen Greenwell and Charles Jefferson Burton, she was employed at Brown Shoe Co., the Golden Rule Store in Caruthersville and the Fabric Mart Store in Naples, Fla.
She married William H. Townsend, who preceded her in death and she later married Clem A. Hill, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, William E. Townsend and wife, of Caruthersville; one step-son, Jimmy Hill, of Caruthersville; one brother, Joseph Burton, of Jackson, Tenn.; one sister, Ellen R. Schuck, of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; two grandchildren, Mary Christina Davis and Laura Leigh Phegley and three great-grandchildren, Ward Christian and Allison Rene Davis and Robert Stephen Gardiner.
Funeral services were held today, May 20, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Allen Saunders officiating.
Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Charles A. Davis, Rodney S. Phegley, Ward C. Davis, Dennis Harmon, Joseph P. Johnson and Ted Streete.
