Jean R. Vancil, 77, of Holcomb, Mo., died Saturday, May 14, 2005, at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Ark.

Born Dec. 18, 1927, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., son of the late Ernest Randolph Vancil Sr., and Maude Mae Loyd, he was a U.S. Army veteran and a farmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Holcomb, a member of the Board of Directors of Pemiscot-Dunklin Co-op and the Board of Directors of M&A Electric Power Cooperative.

On Dec. 19, 1953, in Beech Corner, Mo., he married Jackie Ann Watson, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by an infant son, and one brother, Ernest Randolph "Pete" Vancil Jr.

Survivors include two sons, Michael Jean Vancil and wife, Sherri, of Piggott, Ark., and Robert Scott Vancil and wife, Koren, of Kilgore, Texas; one daughter, Lee Ann Forbus and husband, Ron, of Holcomb; one brother, Jack Loyd Vancil and wife, Winnie, of Campbell, Mo.; three grandchildren, Kelly Garrett and Jarrod and Brayden Vancil; three great-grandchildren and special companion, Shirley Harris, of Holcomb;

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, May 17, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Campbell with the Rev. Randy Vaughn officiating.

Burial was in the Loyd Cemetery at Holcomb.
