John Flowers

John Claude Flowers, 80, of Campbell, Mo., died Sunday, May 8, 2005, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Born Sept. 14, 1924, in Steele, Mo., son of the late Henry and Bertie DePriest Flowers, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWII. He was farmer and a member of the Boone Chapel Church of Christ in Steele.

In Piggott, Ark., he married Betty Jean Bomar, who survives.

Survivors also include three children, John C. Flowers Jr., and wife, Pat, of Tennessee, David R. flowers and wife, Terry, of Bernie, Mo., and Gayla Baker and wife, Jerry, of Ellsinore, Mo.; four brothers, Freddie Cecil, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Jimmy Cecil, of Steele and Newberry "Bo" Cecil and Willie Dean Cecil, both of Campbell; one sister, Mary Jane Kintle, of Michigan city, Ind.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Lawrence "Shot" H. Flowers.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, May 10, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Campbell with James Powell officiating.

Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele.
