Born March 22, 1924, in Braggadocio, Mo., son of the late Chance and Ella May Corbin Hendershot, he was a U.S. veteran, having served in WWII and was awarded three Bronze Stars, Good Conduct medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, four overseas service bars, victory ribbon and Phillipian Liberation Ribbon with one star. He was an EMT at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital and of the Church of Christ faith.
On April 16, 1946, in Caruthersville, Mo., he married Virginia Blackburn, who survives.
Survivors also include one daughter, Brenda Maxwell and husband, Bobby, of Caruthersville; one son, Tyrone Hendershot and wife, Cindy, of Pascola; four grandchildren, Dusty and Julee Hendershot, both of Pascola and Eddie and Monica Pierce, both of Hayti and four great-grandchildren, Haley, Brittney and Billy Moore, all of Hayti and Faith Pierce, of Gideon, Mo.
He was preceded in death by one son, Chance Hendershot and one brother, J.T. Hendershot.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with the Rev. David Fair officiating.
Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were Jeff Ferrell, David Hurst, Billy Moore, James Moss, Randy Luye and Kevin Barnes.
