Catherine Lee "Kitty" Sample, 69, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at Memphis, Tenn.

Born Feb. 8, 1936, in Caruthersville, daughter of the late Morgan Lee and Bessie Pool Sawyer, she was a member of the Caruthersville Baptist Church.

On Sept. 11, 1954, in Hernando, Miss., she married Timothy D. Sample Jr., who survives.

Survivors also include two daughters, Rhea Denice Bruce, of Caruthersville and Rhonda Lynn Jones and husband, Charles, of Holts Summit, Mo.; one sister, Margaret Henson, of Caruthersville; one brother, Billy Joe Sawyer, of Carrollton, Ga.; four grandsons and one great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Sawyer and one sister, Dorothy Caudle.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, at the Temple Baptist Church in Caruthersville with the Rev. Jim Pilcher officiating.

Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville.

Pallbearers were Victor Sample, Tony Sample, Henry Sawyer, Bubby Henson, Bill Caudle and Glen Henson.

John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti, Mo., was in charge of arrangements.
