Travis Andrew Whitson, 17, of Malden, Mo., died Saturday, May 7 at Southern Missouri Healthcare in Dexter.

Born Sept. 30, 1987, in Poplar Bluff, son of Dennis Junior Whitson of Kennett and Glenda Louis Sanford Whitson of Malden, he was a junior at Malden High School and a volunteer teacher's aid. He was a member of United Member Voice of Zion Church, youth group, food pantry volunteer and the Foreign Missionary Team.

Survivors include his parents, one brother, Matthew Whitson of Malden; a half-brother, Adam Whitson of Florida; grandmother, Pat Sanford of Malden and grandfather, Junior Whitson of Kennett.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, J.C. Sanford and grandmother, Thelma Whitson.

Funeral services were held today, Tuesday, May 10 at 1 p.m. at the Bradshaw Fuenral Home Chapel in Malden with Brother Roger Fowler officiating.

Burial was held in the Rosewood Cemetery at Malden.
