Jelba Adrian Stanley, 88, of Jonesboro, Ark., formerly of Memphis, Tenn., died Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at Jonesboro.
Born June 2, 1916, in Pemiscot County, Mo., daughter of the late James Henry and Johanna Olree Light, she was a telephone operator, an apartment manager and a hostess at a country club. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
On Nov. 21, 1036, in Arkansas, she married Eugene Murdock Stanley, who preceded her in death on April 4, 1979. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Arie and J.B. Light and four sisters, Opal Pulliam, Jewel Stewart, Sybil Rayburn and Margie Devine.
Survivors include one son, Charles Douglas Stanley, address unknown; one sister, Anna Bell Russell, of Fayetteville, Tenn.; a sister-in-law, Earnestine "Teeny" Light, of Hayti, Mo., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 22, at the Memory Hill Gardens in Bartlett, Tenn., with Glenn Olree officiating.
John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of arrangements.
