Bernice Chatman Woods, 81, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at the Caruthersville Nursing Center.
Born on Feb. 22, 1924, in Pantherburn, Miss., she was the daughter of Fairetta Honeycutt and the late Arthur Honeycutt.
She married Andrew Chatman, who preceded her in death. On Oct. 3, 1951, she married James Woods Sr., who preceded her in death.
Survivors include her mother, Fairetta Donald; six children, Robert Chapman and wife, Bobra, Andrew Chatman and wife, Mable, James Woods and wife, Elaine, Sherry Gassaway and Jacqueline and Rhonda Woods; one brother, Johnny Honeycutt; 30 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at the Central Church of Christ in Caruthersville with Michael McDaniel officiating.
Burial was in the Morgan Ridge Cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Anthony Bowens, Johnny Ray Bowens, Andrew Chatman III, Robert Chatman Jr., Charles Bess and Christopher Chatman.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
