Alton James Terrett, 80, of Hayti, Mo., died Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Born Feb. 25, 1925, at Wardell, Mo., a son of the late Jessie Lee and Lillie Dale Trost Terrett, he was a World War II veteran, and a member of the Assembly of God Church.

On Feb. 21, 1944, at Caruthersville, he married Martha Lou Alford who preceded him in death Jan. 22, 2002. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Martha Eugene Terrett and two brothers, Jessie Lee Terrett Jr. and William Earl Terrett.

Surviving are one son, James Don Terrett of Hayti; one daughter, Sue Field and husband, James of Hayti; two sisters, Melvina Anderson of Hayti and Shirley Whaley of Sikeston, Mo.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Saturday, April 9, in the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti, with the Revs. Johnnie Durham and Randy Duda officiating.

Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Hayti.

Pallbearers were Ricky J. Parks Jr., Michael Terrett, Joey Terrett, James Fields, J.L. Fields and Robert Durham.
