Nellie Vickers, 88, of Steele, Mo., died April 6, 2005, at River Oaks Care Center in Steele.
Born May 24, 1916, in Marcella, Ark., daughter of the late Allen Porter and Arabella Stafford Rollins, she was a homemaker and a member of the Samford Church of Christ in Holland, Mo.
She married Arthur Wymon Vickers, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, Chester Wymon Vickers; one daughter, Dana Howell; four brothers, T.F., Barney, Ralph and Rayford Rollins; three sisters, Pearl Sherrill, Eula Gene Vickers and Pauline Shempert and two grandsons, James Edward Vickers and Richard Allen Crowley.
Survivors include five sons, Dean Vickers and wife, Ginny, of Tanganoxie, Kan., Gene Vickers and wife, Jane and Lee Vickers and wife, Nina, all of Kansas City, Kan., Con Vickers and wife, Betty, of Marcella and Tommy Vickers and wife, Brenda, of St. Louis, Mo.; five daughters, Betty Sue Crowley, of Kountze, Texas, Wyma Jo Scott and husband, James, of St. Louis, Anna Reed and husband, Gary, of McKenzie, Tenn., Carolyn Clark and husband, Charles, of Kennett and Cathryn Millman and husband, Roger, of Talking Rock, Ga.; two brothers, Bill Rollins, of Marcella and Burdette Rollins, of Kansas City; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Thursday, April 7, at the Bradshaw Powell Funeral Home in Steele.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 8, at the Bradshaw Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Tim Howard and the Rev. Charles Clark officiating.
Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at the York Cemetery in Marcella, Ark.
