Rachel Ruth Bass, 87, of Hayti, Mo., died Monday, March 28, 2005, in Hayti.
Born Sept. 10, 1917, in New Madrid, Mo., daughter of the late Sherman and Dorothy McClaird Hill, she was a homemaker and owner/operator of a day care service in Hayti. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hayti.
Survivors include two sons, Sherman Manley Sr., and L. Dean Manley and wife, Diana, all of Caruthersville, Mo.; one daughter, Janie Sue Tucker, of Lincoln, Neb.; a foster son, Joey; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Ralph Hill; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, at the John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti with Dr. Mike Melton officiating.
Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were Sherman Manley Jr., Sherman Manley III, Mark Nolan, Anthony Raymond Brandon, Steve Tucker and John Taylor.
Honorary pallbearers were David Poe, Ronnie McAnally and Robert Bishop.
