Gloria Jennell Evans, daughter of the late R.B. and Sylvia (Hudgens) Smith was born on October 1, 1939 in Holcomb, Mo. and departed this life March 29, 2005 in St. Louis, Mo. She had attained the age of 65 years, 5 months and 28 days.
Mrs. Evans had resided in Ellsinore, Mo. for the past 12 years and was formerly of Poplar Bluff, Mo. She was a retired seamstress with the Rowe Furniture Company in Poplar Bluff, where she was a dedicated employee for 18 years. She was a member of the Calvary General Baptist Church.
Jennell was a great support to her husband as they ministered and pastored many churches. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing praises to the Lord. The most important work and what she loved the most was to serve the Lord first and then her family. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
On April 17, 1955 she was united in marriage to Rev. William Vernal Evans in Hernando, Miss. He survives of Ellsinore.
Other survivors include three children, Danny Evans and his wife, Susan of Poplar Bluff, Dennis Evans and his wife, Tammie of Andalusia, Ala., and Jennifer Boyer and her husband, Carlos, Jr. of Ellsinore; seven grandchildren, Mika Evans, Christy Blackman, Brandi Evans, Mallory Evans, Ethan Boyer, Aaron Boyer and Levi Boyer; three great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Kelsey and Kobe Blackman; three step-grandchildren, Chris Casey, Jessica Casey and Jacob Jones; one step-great-grandchild, Easton Kirchner and many other relatives and friends who mourn her passing.
Visitation will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2005, in the McSpadden Funeral Home in Ellsinore.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 2, in the Calvary General Baptist Church in Ellsinore.
Burial will follow at the Pine City Cemetery in Holcomb.
