Mary Ellen Gray Clowers, 74, of Dexter, Mo., died Thursday, March 17, 2005, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Born March 24, 1930, in Malden, Mo., daughter of the late Royal and Gertrude Hancock Skidmore, she was a homemaker and a member of the First General Baptist Church in Malden.
She married Arlie Alexander Gray, who preceded her in death. On Sept. 10, 1999, she married Verlin Clowers, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two sons, Arlie Wayne Gray, of Trent, Texas and Phillip Gray, of Dexter; one daughter, Carolyn Ellsworth, of Dexter; two step-sons, Dennis R. Clowers and James A. Clowers, of Flint, Mich.; one step-daughter, Tamra Walker, of Montrose, Mich.; two brothers, Allen Skidmore, of Malden and Morris Skidmore, of Lewisville, Texas; two sisters, Josephine Snider, of Anderson, Ind., and Ruby Cottrell, of Whittier, Calif.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Derrick Wayne Gray.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 21, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel in Malden with the Rev. Scott Keller officiating.
Burial was in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, Mo.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or Auxiliary House of St. Louis Hospital in St. Louis.
