Milford Cumpton, 81, of Kennett, died Friday, March 18, 2005, at National Health Care in Kennett.

Born Nov. 2, 1923, in Senath, Mo., son of the late Morris and Cora Cumpton, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in WWII.

On May 10, 1946, in Dunklin County, he married Frances Emery, who survives.

Survivors also include two sons, Randy Cumpton and wife, Patricia, of Fordland, Mo., and David Cumpton and wife, Wanda, of New Albany, Miss.; one sister, Betty Palmer, of Kennett; three grandchildren, Paula Zyla and Amber and Mark Cumpton and two great-grandchildren, Paul Edward Zyla III and Patrick David Zayla.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Cletus, Poy, Alvin and Cecil Cumpton and two sisters, Dessie Samples and Salma Hamm.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m., Sunday, March 20, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel in Kennett with the Rev. David Henderson officiating.

Burial was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.

Pallbearers were Kenny Reed, Rick Hinchcliff, Barry Palmer, Paul Williams, David Fuller and Joy Robinson.
