Ava Lou Anderson, 79, of Poplar Bluff, Mo., formerly of Memphis and Nashville, Tenn., died Thursday, March 17, 2005, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

Miss Anderson, the daughter of the late Charlie and Nancy Shannon Anderson, was born June 21, 1925, at Choctaw, Ark., and graduated from Bragg City School in Bragg City, Mo. A retired office manager for INA Insurance Co., in Memphis and Nashville, she was of the Church of Christ faith. She enjoyed reading and gardening.

Survivors include three sisters, Azalea Goddard, of Lakewood, Calif., Betty Jo Davis, of Jonesboro, Ark., and Willa Dean Martin, of Poplar Bluff; one nephew, Dr. Zackwrie Parr, of Poplar Bluff and several other nieces and nephews and two great-nephews, Zackwrie Parr, Jr., and Collin Parr, both of Poplar Bluff.

A brother, Alvie Shannon also preceded her in death.

Graveside services were held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett with the Rev. Zack Bud Parr officiating.

Cotrell Funeral Home Chapel of Poplar Bluff was in charge of arrangements.
