Mary DeWeese Chaffin, 92, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at Baton Rouge General Hospital in Baton Rouge, La.
Born Feb. 12, 1913, daughter of the late Buck Hannan and Pearl Mae Rowan DeWeese, she attended Hayti Schools and was a member of the Eastwood Memorial United Methodist Church in Caruthersville, Mo.
She married William Emmett Chaffin, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include two sons, Richard E. Chaffin, of Baton Rouge and William M. "Mike" Chaffin, of Clarksdale, Miss.; three sisters, Mildred Price, of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., Helen Greenwell, of Caruthersville, and Jean Provow, of Quincy, Ill.; one brother, Buddy DeWeese, of Princeton, W.V.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, at the Eastwood Memorial United Methodist Church in Caruthersville with the Rev. Dwight Chapman officiating.
Burial was in the Pemiscot Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Tom Provow, John and Tommy Greenwell, Bryson and Ted Chaffin and Sam DeWeese.
H.S. Smith Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
