Solon Oliver Dobbs, Jr., 89, of Thayer, Mo., formerly of Blytheville, Ark., died Monday, March 14, 2005, at Ozark Medical Center in West Plains, Mo.
Born July 3, 1935, in Armorel, Ark., son of the late Solon Oliver Sr., and Susanna Clymer Dobbs, he was a farmer.
He married Bobbye Hudson, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two sons, Solon Oliver Dobbs III, of Hooks, Texas and Tony Orchard, of Summerville, Tenn.; three daughters, Anna Medlin, of Smyrna, Tenn., Lynda Alexander, of Cooter, Mo., and Pam Mace, of Gosnell, Ark.; three sisters, Inez Bynum, of Jonesboro, Ark., Mary Abbott, of Overton, Nev., and Jo Knight, of Kevil, Ky., and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Solon Oliver IV.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, March 17, at the Holly Grove Baptist Church in Cooter.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 17, at the Holly Grove Baptist Church in Cooter with the Rev. Dave Lewelling officiating.
Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele, Mo.
Bradshaw Powell Funeral Home in Steele is in charge of arrangements.
