Born Nov. 26, 1919, in Campbell, Mo., son of the late William Cossey and Nancy Catherine Rodery Hefner, he was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in WWII and a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of the Osborn General Baptist Church.
On Dec. 20, 1940, in Poplar Bluff, he married Wilma Genice Huffman, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include two sons, Delane Hefner and wife, Ersa, of Qulin and Allan Hefner and wife, Lisa, of Miledgeville, Tenn.; two daughters, Reva Jean Barr and husband, Richard, of Greenville, Mo., and Rhonda Howe and husband, Johnny, of Mullberry, Fla.; two brothers, Dallas Hefner, of Qulin and Cleattus Hefner, of Poplar Bluff; one sister, Lola Benton, of Poplar Bluff; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Ruby Benton and four brothers, Henry, Leo (Kelly), Orbra and Vernie Hefner.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, March 16, at the Landess Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 17, at the Landess Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mark Book officiating.
Burial will follow at the Qulin Cemetery.
