Nita Kelsey

Nita June Kelsey, 50, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Monday, March 7, 2005, at Caruthersville.

Born Aug. 7, 1954, in Hayti, Mo., daughter of the late Loy and Lucille Dunn Chastain, she worked for the Missouri Division of Family services and was a member of the Temple Baptist Church.

On Sept. 1, 1972, in Braggadocio, Mo., she married Lynn Kelsey, who survives of the home.

Survivors also include one daughter, Kristi Stevens and husband, Zach, of Hayti; one son, Tony Kelsey, of Caruthersville; five brothers, Loy Chastain Jr., of St. Louis, Mo., Donald Chastain and wife, Paulette, of Marston, Mo., Arnold Chastain and wife, Linda, of Gideon, Mo., Larry Chastain and wife, Becky, of Bragg City, Mo. and Edward Chastain and wife, Pia, of Dyersburg, Tenn.; five sisters, Leda Dunlap and husband, Leonard, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Freda Cheek and husband, Wayne, of Acworth, Ga., Melba Taylor, of Bartlett, Tenn., Maxine Hughey and husband, Sharon, of Kennett and Diane Chastain, of Denham Springs, La., and one granddaughter, Kelsey Stevens, of Hayti.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., today, Wednesday, March 9, at the Temple Baptist Church in Caruthersville with the Rev. Jim Pilcher officiating.

Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Hayti.

Pallbearers were Russell Gilmore, Jerry Don Hays, Bubba Henson, Billy Hopkins, Vaughn Treece and James White.

John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of arrangements.
