Wilson Eugene "Gene" Turnage, 68, of Hayti, Mo., died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, in Memphis, Tenn.
Born April 25, 1936, in Hornbeak, Tenn., son of the late Evelyn Keith Turnage and the late Lewis Turnage, he owned and operated Turnage's Wrecker Service and Auto Body Repair. He was a member of the Hayti First Baptist Church.
On June 27, 1954, in Hernando, Miss., he married Patricia Ann Morgan, who survives of the home.
Survivors also include six children, Genia Babcock and husband, Earnie, Sherri Ingram and husband, Jeff, Jan Swan, Randall Turnage and wife, Vickie, Tony Turnage and Vickie Hedge and husband, Donald; his mother, Evelyn Turnage; one brother, Bob Turnage and wife, Peggy; seven grandchildren, Justin, Drew, Janea, Chadd, Johnathan, Ethan and Victoria and one great-grandchild, Madisyn.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and John Turnage and one grandson, Jeremy Adam Gurley.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 1, at the First Baptist Church in Hayti, with Dr. Mike Melton officiating.
Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Hayti.
Pallbearers were members of his Sunday school class; Bob Inman, Leslie Knott Jr., Junior Davidson, Phil Bowen, Bob Churchill, B.A. Cross, Harley Thornton, Milford Chism and Ralph Ball.
John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of arrangements.
