Sam Buttrey

Sam Buttrey, 81, of Fisk, Mo., died Sunday, March 6, 2005, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Born June 2, 1923, in Parma, Mo., son of the late John Harrison and Pearl Sebastain Buttrey, he was a farmer and attended Pleasant Hill General Baptist Church in Fisk.

On Dec. 27, 1941, in Parma, he married Sarah Margaret Shelby, who preceded him in death on March 20, 1984. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Mary Hampton.

Survivors include four sons, Art Buttrey and wife, Sharon and Larry Buttrey and wife, Jean, all of Brosley, Mo., and Dale Buttrey and wife, Elsie and Garry Buttrey and wife, Carolyn, all of Fisk; two brothers, Ed Buttrey and wife, Elaine, of Fisk and John Buttrey and wife, Nancy, of Orlando, Fla.; six sisters, Pat Atwill, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Alice Crow and husband, Doyle, of Parma, Betty Wagoner and husband, Wendell, of Catron, Mo., Ivanell Blatchley and husband, Bill, of Denver, Colo., Nancy Buttrey, of Memphis, Tenn., and Carolyn Shelton and husband, Tom, of Malden, Mo.; four grandchildren, Pam, Garry Alan and Dewayne Buttrey and Gayla Withrow and six great-grandchildren, Cassie Templemire, Kellie Jo and Kelsie Buttrey and Tyler, Kyle and Kristen Withrow.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today, Tuesday, March 8, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden with the Rev. Steve Winberry officiating.
