Margaret Cleo Whittemore, 78, of Hayti, Mo., died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at her residence.

Born Sept. 10, 1926, in Tennessee, daughter of the late William and Martha Miller, she was a homemaker and of the Church of Christ faith.

On Oct. 14, 1950, she married Fred J. Whittemore, who preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 1992. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Marilyn.

Survivors include one son, John Whittemore, of Greenwood, Miss.; one daughter, janet Gwin, of Birmingham, Als.; three sisters, Barbara Jean Miller, of Kentucky, Mary Harris, of Doniphan, Mo., and Queenie Miller, of North Carolina; one brother, James Miller, of Alabama; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti with Jeff Thomas officiating.

Burial was in the Stanfield Cemtery at Clarkton, Mo.

Pallbearers were family members.
