Opal Waller Bailey, 84, of Steele, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at the River Oaks Care Center in Steele.
Born Sept. 17, 1920, daughter of the late Edgar and Virginia Mansfield McDonald, she was employed at Brown Shoe Company and was a member of the Steele Church of Christ.
In October of 1939, she married Jerry Waller, who preceded her in death in November of 1988. On July 24, 1991, in Blytheville, Ark., she married Ben Bailey, who preceded her in death in June of 2003. She was also preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.
Survivors include three daughters, Glenda Byrd and husband, Bill, of Calhoun, Ga., Jerline Bates and husband, Bill, of Moulton, Texas and Vicky Takayama and husband, Dennis, of San Bruno, Calif.; one sister. Mouffie Read, of Falls Church, Va.; five grandchildren, Janet Myskowski, Diana Cunningham and Elizabeth Fardo, all of Atlanta, Ga., Will Bates, of Raytown, Mo. and Libby Bates, of Glendale, Ariz., and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, at the John W. German Funeral Home chapel in Hayti, Mo., with John Mundy officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele.
Pallbearers were Harold Barnes, Gene Kellems, Phillip Cassidy, Merlyn Bishop Jr., and Brian and Josh Callis.
