Clayborne Connor

Clayborne Malcolm Connor, 94, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti, Mo.

Born Oct. 18, 1910, in Derby, Ind., son of the late Millard Hugh and Mary Jane Mosby Connor, he worked at Dillman's Auto Parts and later became owner. He was a volunteer Caruthersville fireman and a member of the Eastwood Memorial United Methodist Church.

On May 17, 1930, he married Willie Ann Huntley, who preceded him in death.

Survivors include one son, Clay M. Connor Jr. and wife, Dorothy, of Dunedin, Fla.; two daughters, Marilyn Akerhielm and husband, Ron, of Spokane, Wash., and Linda Stetson and husband, Stephen, of Pascola, Mo.; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti, Mo., with the Rev. Mike Hargraves officiating.

Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville.

Pallbearers were Aaron, Connor and Michael Stetson, James Coursey, Scott Layfield and James Mott.
