Dessie Lavanie Duncan, 71, of Pascola, Mo., died Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born Nov. 6, 1933, in Tupelo, Miss., daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Sallie Mae Petigo, she was a homemaker and a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church.
On Dec. 20, 1950, in Harrison, Ark., she married Eddie Duncan, who preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 2004. She was also preceded in death by three sons, William Alvin, James Luther and Sammy Lee Duncan; two daughters, Brenda Duncan and Sherry Cox; four brothers, Ruble, Hoover, Darren and Kenneth Petigo; two sisters, Lucille Davis and Lura Petigo and three grandsons, Ricky Mendoza, Michael Duncan and Leroy Cox.
Survivors include five daughters, Wanda Rickman and husband, Russell, of Kansas City, Mo., Linda Baldwin and husband, Douglas, of Cordova, S.C., Kathyren Mendoza and husband, Luis, of Sacramento, Calif., Christina Dell and husband, Chris, of Brosley, Mo., and Kimberly Howenstine, of Pascola, Mo.; two sons, Eddie Duncan Jr., of Wardell, Mo., and Harry Duncan and wife, Edna, of Mountville, S.C.; five brothers, James Andrew Petigo, of Tupelo, Miss., Connie Petigo, of St. Charles, Ill., Thomas "TJ" Petigo, of Piggott, Ark., Andrew Jackson Petigo, of Lombard, Ill., and Dewie Petigo, of Columbus, Miss., and two sisters, Ruby Mitchell, of Savanah, Tenn., and Delois West, of Tupelo.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Tuesday, march 1, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti, Mo., with Pastor Karen Hartung officiating.
Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Hayti.
